TOMBOLA.......Stall Game

What you will need:

Books of cloak room raffle tickets, Prizes, A Plastic Bin,Box or Tombola drum a plastic carrier bag,and sticky tape.

Decide what theme the Tombola is going to be take into account the age groups and people that will be buying tickets.  You can have many types of Tombola but here are a few ideas:

Bottle and Cans (alcohol )
Bottles and Cans : Juice, Deodrants,Shampoos ,Tins of food
Easter Egg or Selction boxes (depending on the season)
Toys and Books or a combination of them all

Ask for donations of prizes to suit your theme (such as shampoo, soft
drinks, wine, chocolate, tins, talc, toys or alcohol).  If you are short of prizes make up vouchers  spend at your event: ie a ticket for a free hotdog or a free raffle ticket

Once you know how many prizes you have, work out the odds you are going to give (1 in 4 chance means you have to put 1 winning ticket in for every 4 tickets that go into the drum). Once you have done this you will have a idea of how many books of tickets you need. I always feel that the odds depends on the quality of the prizes and how much you are going to charge for the tickets. If you have really good prizes and people will pay a little more make the odds higher or visa versa.

Before you start ripping tickets up and putting them in your drum REMEMBER to take out and put to one side the numbers you are going to use for your prizes.. I always use the numbers ending in 5 or 0 as it makes it a lot easier when you have a crowd of people and are busy to know who is a winner. So get your books of raffle tickets and rip out all the numbers leaving the last row intact, then put them to one side .

Now get started ,Rip out a strip at a time fold in half (side ways) and then repeat and then pull apart individually (saves time folding one by one ) Place them in a plastic carrier bag not the drum . Once you have finished this then begin to stick your 0 AND 5 TICKETS on to the prizes REMEMBERING that for every ticket you stick on a prize you place the matching ticket folded in the TOMBOLA DRUM. Do this until all your prizes have a ticket on.

Now all the tickets are folded and placed in the carrier bag then a top tip is to tie the carrier bag up and put it inside your tombola drum/bin/box until the day it is ready to be used, this way no tickets get lost . Work out how much you are going to charge ie 3 tickets for £1 .

When setting up on the day I always find it better to have a couple of really good STAR PRIZES to draw attention to the stall. Have a large bright poster and always remember not to give alcohol prizes to children or anyone who appears to be under 18yrs old,ask them to bring a adult to collect the prize.

Have Fun and make lots for your Good Cause x
